ABOUT HEADS UP
SAFETY
Heads Up Access are a full IRATA member company.
The external auditing system for IRATA member companies is similar to the provisions of ISO 9001 (Quality management Systems), ISO 45001 (Occupational Health and Safety Systems), ISO 22846 Parts 1 & 2 (Fundamental Principles and Code of Practice for use of Rope Access Methods for Working at Height).
The Joint Australian/New Zealand Standards AS/NZS ISO 22846 Parts 1 & 2 have just been approved by the New Zealand Standards Approval Board and were published 10th July 2020. These standards supersede AS/NZS 4486.1 & 4486.2. The revised standards provide guidance for employers, employees, self-employed persons and those commissioning rope access works on the fundamental principles for a safe system of work using rope access methods.
Our technicians are trained and certified according to the IRATA accreditation system provided by the IRATA International Code of Practice (ICOP) and Training, Assessment and Certification (TACS) schemes, widely recognised as international best practice. The ICOP and TACS meet the requirements of AS/NZS ISO 22846 Parts 1 & 2.
This demonstrates and provides assurance to our clients our commitment to safety as a PCBU, through regularly audited systems and best practice health and safety standards, with a focus on continual improvement, and zero harm to people and the environment.

Rope Access is a means of accessing the workplace with minimal additional time and disruption at ground level, eliminating the need for heavy and obtrusive equipment such as scaffolding, EWPs or cranes.
This allows work to proceed efficiently and quickly, significantly reducing labour costs and allowing more efficient use of available budgets and timeframes for addressing specific project issues.
Rope Access is sometimes the only means of accessing tight, high angle or remote and hazardous work locations and can often be completed with minimal impact and shutdown times.
Rope Access methods can be utilised concurrently in areas adjacent to existing operational activities and is therefore suitable for use on major infrastructure projects where successful collaboration between multiple agencies is a key factor.

ABOUT IRATA
what is irata?
IRATA International was founded in 1988 and are recognised as industry leaders in industrial rope access worldwide. IRATA provides guidance for and direction to its members, who in turn manage the delivery of training and operational work within the rope access sector. This ensures that all member companies and technicians act according to the safety practices prescribed by IRATA. The quality of the system is safeguarded through the process of external auditing of IRATA member companies. IRATA continually reviews and updates policies and procedures related to international standards, to ensure they remain fit for purpose and relevant and continues to promote and maintain a high standard of industrial rope access activities globally in terms of safety and work quality.
IRATA international requires its member companies to submit annual data about employment, rope hours and any situations where loss of control of a hazard has occurred, resulting in an accident / incident or near miss. The annual IRATA Work and Safety Analysis summarises this data to calculate accident and incident rates and provide conclusions and make recommendations for improvements. Importantly, this allows comparison between the Health and Safety performance of IRATA member companies with all other industries globally.
Heads Up Access and all individual IRATA-qualified technicians working for us are committed to the continual improvements in Health and Safety performance demonstrated by IRATA International.
